A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge or denture in place. A dental implant looks and feels just like a natural tooth and it does not sacrifice the quality of the adjacent teeth like a bridge because the neighboring teeth are not altered to support the implant.
