What if I have an emergency after hours?
Dr. Valentine or a colleague is on call 24 hours for our patients. Please call the office at (209) 526-0982 and you will be given the name and telephone number of the doctor on call.
Are we a specialty office?
Dr. Valentine is a general dentist performing a wide range of dental procedures including periodontal and hygiene treatment, fillings, crowns, fixed bridges, removable partial dentures, complete dentures, implants and cosmetic procedures. We also provide pediatric dentistry and offer different levels of anesthesia for all patients.
How long will my first appointment take?
For an adult a complete oral examination will take approximately 1½ hours. This appointment will include an oral cancer screening, a periodontal exam, complete dental x-rays and a visual examination of all teeth.
For children and teens a complete oral examination will take approximately 45 to 50 minutes. This appointment will include complete dental x-rays and a visual examination of all teeth and oral tissues.
Why don't we include a dental cleaning on the first appointment?
A complete examination is required in order to diagnose the proper type and length of hygiene appointment. Once the diagnosis is made during the complete oral examination, then the cleaning appointment can be scheduled with one of our hygienists.
Why do I need a full series of dental x-rays?
A visual examination is only surface deep. In order to see the roots of the teeth, bone support for the teeth, or anything underneath the oral tissues x-rays are required. X-rays will show abscesses, decay, periodontal disease, impacted teeth, or any abnormalities to the maxilla or mandible.
Do we treat children?
We are a family practice. We treat children as young as two years of age through senior citizens.
Do we take your insurance?
We will bill any insurance. However, your benefits are determined by your plan. You may refer to your plan benefit booklet or contact your insurance or human resource department to find out if there are any provider restrictions.
